Rafael Nadal, 32, has survived as fiery match to go through to the Semi-final of the ongoing French Open. Nadal, the defending champion, had to overturn the “rain-delayed” match against Diego Schwartzman.
The rain sectioned game was not in favour of the defending champion before it was halted on Wednesday with the score sheet reading 6-4 3-5.
The world number one tennis player is hoping to clinch his 11th French Open title quickly turned the game around immediately after the restart on Thursday. He emerged the victor in the conquest with 4-6 6-3 6-2 6-2.
Nadal judged himself “a bit lucky” in that the match was halted by the rain which was to his advantage. “I was able to stop, to think, to calm down and to see things a bit with more clarity,” he said.
The Spaniard will battle the spot for the final with Juan Martin del Potro (5th seed), who defeated Marin Cilic (3rd seed) 7-6 (7-5) 5-7 6-3 7-5 in another postponed quarterfinal match.
The semi-final match between Rafael Nadal and Juan Martin del Potro will be played today.
